Most will call 1/20/2021 Inauguration Day, but it will forever be known to me as the day the Trench Coats came to slay! From our new First Lady Jill Biden, our first Female Vice President Kamala Harris, our former First Lady Michelle Obama, American Poet Amanda Gorman, to Jennifer Lopez and all the ladies of the Biden family. These ladies showed up in a sea of stylish and colorful trench coats! And I’m here for it!!! They did not come to play with us!!!
The Bidens Blue us away ! Yes, you read it correctly. Our New First Lady Jill Biden made us all stop and marvel at her in her ocean blue tweed trench coat by Alexandra O’Neill. While our President looked equally dapper in his navy blue trench coat by Ralph Lauren. If that wasn’t enough the entire Biden Family took their first walk to the White House as if they were working the runway! I saw light blue, navy blue, burgundy, pink and plaid. They were all making a unified fashion statement and I wasn’t mad.
Our first female Vice President Kamala Harris stepped out bold and beautiful in her purple trench coat by Christopher John Rogers. Always the conservative beauty, she showed up making a true fashion statement as she took her historic place in office. I’m sure this will not be the last we will see of her fashionable statement pieces.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama showed up in her burgundy / wine colored cashmere trench coat by Sergio Hudson looking like American Royalty demanding attention and getting it.
American Poet Amanda Gorman was a ray of sunshine as she spoke so vivid and eloquently in her yellow trench coat by Prada. This beautiful young lady made us stop and listen as she spoke. Her epic poem was thought-provoking and every word she spoke was powerful. Today not only did she make a memorable political statement, but she also made a fashion statement that will not go unnoticed.
Last but not least Jennifer Lopez showed up like the true show stopper she is in all white everything. She sang ”America The Beautiful” while looking beautiful in her white trench coat by Chanel. Jenny from the block also put her stamp on things while singing ”This Land is Your Land” she said in Spanish “Una nación, Bajo Dios, indivisible, con Libertad y Justicia para todos,” (One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all). We might not have understood what she said, but we sure did take notice of her style.
I could go on and on about how fashionable and dapper everyone looked today, but I’ll stop and leave you with this fashion gem. Trench Coats have always been a fashion staple that has never and will never go out of style. It is one of the best items you could & should have in your wardrobe whether you’re a her or him.
